Samurai Jeans was established in Osaka in 1998 based on the concept that jeans ultimately have no value unless the creator and wearer are united in their commitment. They strive to create fabrics with unique texture and atmosphere, pushing the envelope of what is possible with denim by paying close attention to the provenance of the cotton types they use, their characteristics, the shape of the threads they spin, while also striving to use traditional Japanese dyeing and weaving techniques rather than the more modern and generic methods found elsewhere. 15oz Selvedge Denim / Iron laurel button / Iron Samurai Japan button / copper Samurai rivet / brass Samurai Japan hidden rivet / dedicated leather patch / Red Rayon label / One wash
Relaxed straight cut with a roomy rise and hips, created as a tribute to jeans from the WW2 era. To get the look and feel just right they researched not only the cotton yarns of that time, but also details such as thread thickness, unique thread colours, period–correct stitch width, etc., then adding their own Samurai magic to the mix. The denim comes in at 15oz and is made of Texas cotton spun into slubby #6 threads. Although this denim is relatively light compared to other Samurai denim types, the hard texture and roughness of the fabric has made it a favorite of many denim fans. Taking into account the specs found on jeans at the time, they went with several unique details such as olive–coloured herringbone pocket bags as well as leaving some of the uncut portions of fabric. (normally these parts are trimmed or removed on modern jeans).
