In 1972 Margaret Howell began to design, make and sell shirts from a flat in South East London and with the generous support of Josephs opened a store in South Molten Street London in 1976. In 1982 the first stand alone Margaret Howell store opened in Aoyama in Japan. Today she has stores in London, Paris, Florence and Japan. Her handwriting is a modern take on classic styles and is often inspired by the method and make involved in the process.
