*A Vontade draws it’s inspiration from the utilitarian aspects of classic US and European Military, workwear and sportswear items. With meticulous attention paid to the smallest details they strive to create a garment that still has worth and relevance with the passing of time and developing still greater character with wear. Designed by Kazuyuki Yamakawa and always made in Japan.
Indigo 40”s Coverall
Designed with inspiration from 1940s US coveralls. The material is a 9.5oz indigo denim that replicates the look of minor brand denims from that era. The warp uses indigo threads that intentionally have short, uneven slubs scattered throughout, mimicking the imperfections found back then. The weft is made with nep yarn and dyed to a subtle ivory color. The collar with a stand, two pockets, and four–button design reflect the simplified style of wartime clothing.Additionally, unlike the usual sewing process where the sleeves are attached in the final step, we first attach the body and sleeves, then finish with a rolled seam from the shoulder to the cuff. This technique creates a smooth, elegant shoulder line.
